Review on Indicator Aligning Calibrating Machinery Presses Power & Hand Tools by Richard Lamptey

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Nice concept but needs improvement in design and production.

I bought a Grizzly G0771Z table saw with a cast iron table and needed a tool to align and stop the saw. 3 popular instruments are available: Saw Gauge by Woodpeckers, Digital Aligner by I-Gauging and A-Lign-It by In-line Industries. I first bought a saw gauge, couldn't get any repeatable measurements, the whole concept of registering from the bottom of the bevel and the bottom from the top of the bevel is like asking the dentist to fix your teeth through your ear, why? it's so hard to get it back. The alignment surface of the key wrench at an angle is the top vertical wall. Would give 1 star. My next was A-Lign, good concept, simplicity but questionable quality. A hex screw did not fit the tool, it was very difficult to keep it level with the set screws and still move smoothly. Better repeatability than Woodpeckers, but tricky. Returned. 2 stars. A-Lign There was an issue with the plastic washer being too big to fit the canal, but in 3 minutes I used a file and drill to reduce the diameter of the washer to fit the canal. Works great on Grizzly, very repeatable, a pleasure to use. Would give 5 stars except for the washing machine so 4 stars.
