I was looking all over town for this the day before Thanksgiving and couldn't find any. What's even more frustrating is the looks I got when I called him a "collar ripper"! This long handled utensil was loved by our grandmothers who knew to cut those sausages when cooking a large pot of veggies and the easiest way to do this is AFTER they're cooked. The long handle lets you chop and mince without burning your knuckles. If you're cooking veggies with lots of "liquor," simply use a large slotted spoon to scoop the veggies into a bowl, chop, and then either set aside or pour some of the alcohol into a serving bowl. It would also be good for chopping coleslaw fixins, egg salad, chicken salad, potato salad or anything that needs coarse chopping. I got mine not long ago but I doubt it's of the same quality as grandma's chopper which lasted 50 years and didn't have a rust spot. It feels too light and the wood is not heavy in my hand. I'll update my review if it breaks, but so far so good. If I get the benefit of it for a few years and use it once or twice a month I feel like it's worth the price. Otherwise I will search antique stores and ebay for a genuine vintage chopper.
