Water tastes like well water. The filter makes the water cleaner than what the city has to offer. Each can lasts approximately 6 months and in my family we are all water drinkers. The price is amazing if you buy several at a time. At first I thought I would have to shut off the water lines, but I was able to install a new one with just a few drops of water that leaked into the fridge when replacing. Remember to empty the water completely (several full pitchers) and then empty the first full batch of ice. ;)
