It has enough tension to really do the job I need it for.
This gives me twice the trunk space to work with because I can stow things and they don't fall out when I open the trunk. I already got my money back because my eggs or milk didn't fall out of my car or explode in my garage. I'll be very happy with it if it's exactly like the picture. The edges do not go from edge to edge. but they come in a bit, which I think gives just enough tension for this to work. Others I've tried went all the way from edge to edge and never had enough tension and things rolled under them, but that's not the case.
