This is the second sharpener I've bought because I didn't pay enough attention to neck tolerance the first time. My chisels don't fit snugly in the first guide and trying to file the channels didn't help. This guide offers a much better and tighter fit, meaning my chisels won't slip while I'm trying to sharpen that perfect edge. Before you buy, take a close look at your chisels and the guide you are considering. A much-needed improvement would be to switch to a wider roller. As narrow as this roll is, it's all too easy to distort the lead as you turn, resulting in less than perfect edges.
