Beware of the first impression

My first impression of this product was not very good. I bought this device hoping it would provide better signal strength than my outdated Rosewill b,g USB dongle. It didn't work the way I wanted it to. Reported signal strength with this device for any network in range was about 20 percent lower than that reported for the old Rosewill device. I was disappointed to say the least. On closer inspection, however, it turned out that the "connection quality" for each detected network was significantly better than the corresponding connection quality on the Rosewill device. And the baud rate (speed) for each connected network was higher than the Rosewill device. This is more than intuitive on a device with significantly reduced signal strength to provide improved connection quality and speed, but damn if it works, it works! This is the handiest USB extender I've ever come across. As a bonus, this unit runs a lot cooler than the old Rosewill key. What's not to love?
