I ordered them skeptically, not 30-40 gallons in the photo. Heating pad and does not match the packs currently available at local pet stores. Revain needs to address this discrepancy as the images and description are really all we need to make a purchasing decision. I can report that the items I received are genuine Zoo Med products, packaged exactly as you would find them at the local pet store for less than half the price. Our hermit crabs are in 30 gallons. The aquarium/inverted terrarium is kept at about 80 degrees. at 72-75 degrees. Household, but they're probably on all the time, or almost all of the time. I don't expect this pair to provide adequate heating in the winter (Kansas City area) months. They attach to the side at each end, starting at about 1 inch. above base, about 2 inches. below the top edge of the substrate. They are controlled by the popular BN-LINK controller with a temperature sensor centered about 1 inch back. above the ground. Hope this helps someone. Much luck.
