Review on AmazonBasics Printer Filament 1 75Mm Assorted Additive Manufacturing Products in 3D Printing Supplies by Zack Frazier

This PETG is durable but needs better packaging

Packaging: The filament was packaged in a silica gel pouch but with a much thinner shrink wrap than I'm used to with PLA, ABS and filament TPUs which I usually use. I made my first print with this filament within 20 minutes of opening the shrink wrap and noticed clear signs of hydrolysis (molten filament bubbling and spouting rapidly from the hot end even when the extruder motor is not spinning). Adhesion: Have only used masking tape with this PETG so far and it works well. I usually print with polyesterimide, but I've read that PETG adheres too well to polyesterimide, so I was afraid to try this combination. I noticed the hydrolysis problem above (a little bubbly but still work for my purposes). Even with the extra moisture in the filament, the prints are really strong compared to PLA. Even though I was strong, I had to print at 100% infill to get enough strength on the 10mm threaded part. I'm hoping to get a higher quality and firmness after a day in the dehydrator.

Pros
  • 3D Printer Filament (1.75mm diameter, 5 different colors; 1kg per spool; 5 spools); Designed for most major 3D printers (Check spool size for compatibility)
Cons
  • Legacy model
