Review on πŸ”§ Highly Efficient OTC 7318 Flywheel Pilot Bearing Removal Tool for Tight Spaces by Rick Vidaurri

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A tool that does exactly what it says on the tin

I got this tool to remove some stubborn 1/2" ID bearings that wouldn't come out with a back hammer. At first I thought the jaws were too wide to go through (and even found a review from the person who decided to grind them), but then I noticed that if I loosened the bar completely and they wobbled against each other, with some wobble and wobble, they fit. If you're still having trouble, you can completely remove the jaws from the bar and slide them one at a time, then reassemble. Interestingly, if you pull the bearings on the inner ring you should throw them away anyway, but mine came out without a single scratch or sign of warping. The box is either a sign of OTC's confidence that the screw won't rust, or they're skimping on lube during these troubled times. That's pretty sweet, because who really likes wiping down every piece of metal that comes in the mail, but this one needs lubrication - where the screw threads into the rod, collet nut and thrust washer - saves some energy and extends the life of the tool . Finally, if you are dealing with large bearings, you can go for this size: OTC (7319) Bearing Guide Puller All in all, it's nice to have something that works out of the box without cracking. I would like it to be a little cheaper, but I think this is a payoff for the quality and possibly domestic production. Keep it up.
