Review on ILOVETOOL Circular Diamond Stone Carving Power & Hand Tools by Draven Invert

I cut as a hobby and like to grind and polish old stones. This set of 10 10mm, medium diamond (100F) gold plated ball point drill bits and 3mm (1/8") shanks is just what I needed to sand out a small gouge on the back of the translucent cabs. There were articles by Bob Rush about this technique in Rock & Gem Magazine, which just turned 50. Thank you for the info and the overall expertise! All diamond drills MUST be used with water to lubricate the drill. This removes the grinding and reduces tool wear. I've found that using non-hardening Plumber's Putty to create a dam around a stone being worked on works well when I can't direct a steady stream of water at the stone or grind it underwater in a shallow container. ALSO, you NEED to know that this slowly "grinds" the glass or stone/gemstone, not "cuts" through wood or metal like a jagged burr. With this tool, diamond grit is applied outwards in a thin layer; much more expensive versions use a thicker layer of sintered diamond. Excessive pressure will damage and render your diamond drill bit unusable - slow and intermittent light up and down pressure will allow water to enter the hole and carry away the cutting debris. For a ball attachment like this, I recommend an angled attachment rather than a 90 degree attachment to accommodate attachment wear and provide better control. Remember to protect your hands and eyes as broken glass and stones can seriously injure you. I highly recommend these ILOVETOOL Brand 10mm Round Head Diamond Burrs for Stone Carving Tools 10 Pack.
