SHORT VERSION: I had problems with this adapter, which recognized two monitors connected to my laptop via USB 2.0 and they didn't "extend" (it only got one Display detected, mirrored on both monitors ). Changed cable configurations and finally recognized both monitors. Combination that worked: USB 2.0 => DVI and HDMI (technically an HDMI to VGA adapter). The combination of DVI and VGA did not work. LONG VERSION: I connected this adapter to my desktop PC via USB 3.0 for testing, installed the drivers to connect the display and it worked great. The combination was USB 3.0 => DVI and VGA. The point, however, was to use this on my work laptop, so I tried installing it there. different story! (see problem above) This laptop is an old Lenovo PoS that my employer forces his contractors to use, so of course it doesn't have USB 3.0. Since this cable configuration worked on my desktop PC, I assumed my problem was the lack of USB 3.0. I've searched the internet, fixed errors, reinstalled drivers, restarted the computer and tried the other two USB 2.0 ports. nothing solved my problem. I was ready to give up and send it back when I realized I had missed a very trivial troubleshooting step. shift cable! I tried another setup (now USB 2.0 => DVI and HDMI (HDMI to VGA adapter) and it worked right away. So if you have the same problem try here, it might help you! This setup works at 1920 x 1080 resolution on both monitors As for the product itself this is one of the cheapest options I've found for a basic dual screen setup Pretty happy with it once up and running I like it definitely that it doesn't need to be plugged into power like some of the more powerful docking stations, could have had a longer or removable USB cable, mostly hangs on my laptop because the USB cable isn't long enough.
