OK, in response to all the other negative reviews: two-tier. I have a WAP11 (and I'm buying a second one for my workstation) and it comes out of the box to set up. I have a house separate from my garage/office and it is not possible/prohibited to run a cable between them for internet access. I set up my WAP11 on my main network and was able to get a good signal using my laptop and my WPC11 (Linksys) PCMCIA card. However, the map orientation is not the best for long distances. Antenna alignment is everything on these devices! In the farthest corners of my garage (100 feet from the hotspot) I got no signal. But when I tilted my laptop on its side (bad typing position :-)), I suddenly had 40% signal strength. I did a little research and spoke to a few antenna manufacturers. In summary, this device is VERY expandable if you want to spend a little more money on an antenna. The antennas of the WAP11 are detachable and a much more powerful antenna (with pigtail) can be added. However, I found it unnecessary. I went ahead and decided to try WUSB11 (Linksys) and see if the "correct antenna orientation" was really the problem. It worked out of the box. Everywhere in my house, in the far corners of my garage and beyond! I did find a few weak points, but moving the WUSB11 around (it's on a 6-foot USB cable) gave me a bit of the signal strength I wanted. The WAP11 comes with a device (with two detachable antennas, an important feature that is also not described anywhere in the LinkSys literature), a power supply, a CD with drivers and installation software (really incredibly easy installation, and please enable WEP!) and a simple installation guide. .How much interference? I have a 2.4GHz cordless phone and haven't noticed anything (the jury's still out) but so far so good. A really great device for the price. Just note that the default device has limitations and you should be fine. I definitely recommend this device.
