I tried this set on wood, sheet metal and steel as the designs permitted and the color impressed me. This set worked like a champ. I've used them in the drill and in my hand in different ways and at different speeds. They cut wood like butter. I've used them to cut holes in sheet metal and sheet steel cases. Proper speed and force are critical to avoid overloading the carbide. They aren't as robust as traditional hole saws, but they're worth it in terms of hole quality. They don't have the same propensity to run as traditional hole saws, especially on thicker hardwoods and thicker steel, as the test I pre-drilled and leveled on the opposite side drilled a hole with near-perfect centering. To say that this is the way to go for good hole cutting I would just like a spare tube to store spare drill bits and springs but by no means a deal breaker.
