we were having a prom for one of my granddaughters at the house and someone tried to roll one of them and it had too big an angle on the pole and it broke. Eye on the drive side of the device. Slightly off topic. Let me just say that if you are looking for the best retractable sunglasses on the market look no further than Coolaroo branded products. If you want to cool an area that needs shade with a durable quality material (I've been through a lot before) that can withstand occasional abuse in high winds or worries about fading, this won't be the case. We have had 4 of their curtains on our patio for almost 5 years and this is the first issue to come up. Other than that (back to this product) this mechanism was perfect for the shade. It feels solid and well built and has a smooth action which is why I recommend this product.
