Review on πŸšͺ myQ-G0302 Add-On Door Sensor for Chamberlain myQ-GO302 Smart Garage Hub (Compatible with MYQ-G0301 Only) by Chris Pettway

Totally unreliable - want my money back

I have two garage doors and initially used MyQ - this sensor often incorrectly detects if the door is open or closed and when that happens you have to physically get out and fix it it by repeatedly opening the door. Tried changing the battery - to no avail. This is a nuisance. What's scary is that we've had multiple phantom door openings since installing it, which is exactly the opposite of what you want and the only reason we bought it is to keep our doors locked at all times. This once resulted in our garage door being left open all night - luckily nothing was stolen. Also, the app needs some work. You can set up a schedule to close the door when it's open, which is overkill. We actually thought the phantom vents were because of the schedule, so we removed them (and it happened anyway). What would be a lot smarter and easier would be to just have it so that you can set the interval at which the door closes after it's opened. So if the door is left open for 15 minutes, it will automatically close. There is an option to delay this if you are working in a garage or similar. OR, if they don't want to automatically close the door (who knows why), then the system should send you an alert AT LEAST every 5 minutes. or frequent texts. My old system shut down just after the interval I could set and it was explosion proof. I wish I hadn't done a tech upgrade. So if you're buying this to make sure your door is shut, try something else is my advice. If you're buying it because it's cool to open a door with your phone (which is a lot more tiring than pressing a button in a car), then buy it to impress your friends before everyone steals from your garage .

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
