UPDATE: After prolonged use I've noticed that the difference in diameter on medium (out of 3) carbide surfaces is plus 0.003 inch or so. Whatever I do, I end up with a channel or step on all vertical surfaces on all passes. Such a pain to deal with. Side milling vibration is still a big problem, but face milling is terrible, steel shaft bending is too severe. garbage now. I'm tired of hiding behind something in the store in case this cutter explodes. Still true: It doesn't show up in the photos, but it's a 3-tooth tool, offset to ensure chip breaking. I would love to. I could find a solid carbide tool with this length of cut, but this tool is very well made and works well with softwoods. The HSS shaft/body is not stiff enough and the vibrations are excessive, especially on the inner surface. ners. Even very light passes (0.3" deep, 0.1" cut at 40 ips, 16 rpm) led to vibration fractures when changing direction. I'm giving 4 stars as it's a good beat, albeit not good for maple.
