Clean Holes, Professional Results

So glad I chose these over a rotary press punch have. I've seen some comments about how difficult they can be to use. This was my first time using a hiking device with a harness and I am very happy with the results. Be ready to tap with a hammer and make sure you're on a surface you won't damage. I did this on a countertop with a small legal pad underneath to keep the counter from chipping. The hardest part will be aligning the holes. Making holes is easy. You will type. But I also tried not to damage the marble countertop. If you're on a good solid workbench, you can just give it two or three good bags. Place the punch on the good side of the strap. Here's a tip on how I lined up the holes: Take some thumbtacks and insert them, tips up, into the existing holes. Take a piece of paper and line up the edge with the edge of the belt and press down leaving a perfect template with the exact location of the holes. Then move the paper down with the edge aligned with the belt. Place the paper on top of the last two buttons to keep it stable, and then use a pen to mark the places on the paper where the buttons made holes. (I hope it all made sense). Now you know exactly where the new holes should be! I made these marks on the bottom of the belt but it's not necessary. Then I took a utility knife and started twisting it around the pin's mark until it pierced the belt. It didn't make the hole I wanted but it went through to make a precise spot on the good side of the belt so I knew exactly where to make my holes. But you can just use stencil paper to mark the holes with a pen on the good side. Of course, be careful not to slip and leave marks, especially if the belt is a light color. In fact, the process was easy and fun!
