Review on SRAM PG1070: High-Performance 10-Speed Cassette for Ultimate Speed and Precision by Josh Jeffries

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect fit with a short front derailleur. easy to install.

I gave up my 11-23 cassette as I needed a larger gear for climbing and rarely used 11 speed (11 speed was only used for a few seconds on descents ). And I wanted to stick with a 10 speed cassette so I wouldn't have to pay $250-$300 to upgrade to 11 speed. I have a short Shimano derailleur, but I went with the 12-28 SRAM cassette as it has a 16 speed (which is the one I use most). According to Shimano, the 27-tooth cog is the largest cog a short derailleur can handle. I also read that Shimano is conservative in their calculations. I installed a 12-28 cassette and it works great with my short front derailleur. (I wouldn't go more than 28 tines - if you're considering that.) The SRAM cassette slipped easily onto the hub and tightened with just finger pressure - no tools required. BRIGHT!
