I received the 3090 FE 12 days ago and quickly realized that it never went above 115mh/s for ETH when mining. HWMonitor showed a memory temperature of 110 degrees Celsius! Ouch! So I did some research and decided to swap out the thermal pads on the back for fear of steps to get to the other side of the card and that it might be quite effective. I set the pads to match Matthew Lloyd's layout and when I'm done my temps are 100 degrees Celsius and I'm getting 118MHz for ETH, still not great but not insanely hot. I can try pulling the card out of the desktop through the riser and/or adding a heatsink. I have no way of comparing how these thermal pads perform compared to Thermalright, Gelid or Iceberg, but the 8-10 degree drop is comparable to what many other videos are reporting with more expensive thermal pads. I can see they are now $2 cheaper than what I paid a few days ago which is a bit annoying.
