I have a 2000 Suburban that we bought specifically to tow a 5,000 lb trailer. I'm not sure what type of brakes came with the car when I bought it, but they did little to stop the Suburban without a trailer. Everyone wants to sell you ceramic pads, the only advantage of ceramic pads is that they are quieter and the dust is not black like semi-metal pads. I don't mind black dust or even a little noise (although they are very quiet as long as they don't squeak). I want maximum braking performance with a firm initial bite. Put these pads on all accounts. I took a trailer this weekend, and even with the extra load, the Suburban pulled by with aplomb. I highly recommend these pads!
