Review on πŸ–¨οΈ Black 1.75mm Printer Filament by AmazonBasics by Russ Charmin

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Mediocre roll quality is inconsistent and a risk for long prints.

I would not recommend this PLA for use or for very long printing sessions. I've run countless prints and calibrated my settings for reliable results, and while I've managed to get very clean prints, the filament never hit me. I've never managed to get rid of the strings entirely like I've done with other brands. The stretch was very light when it happened and a quick light would have taken care of that. The filament for my printer had to be run very hot for best results, 220 first / 210 the rest. Twice during the use of this spool the filament became very brittle and did not melt. My first discovery was after the filament stopped pushing out during a calibration print. Second, I happened to notice this when installing a new Bowden tube. The thread actually snapped in my hand when I was pulling the thread out of the tube. Each time I had to cut about three feet of thread before it returned to normal quality. With the right settings you will get good quality prints but I would consider this brand as a fallback if good materials are not available. Due to its uneven quality across the roll I have to give it a pretty low rating as it poses a real risk for long prints.

Pros
  • Designed to reduce jams
Cons
  • So far so good
