I was wanting to try either an aerator or a decanter but the latter requires much more storage space which I'm running short on, so this product's compact size and a bonus stopper won the day. The wine aerator seems to work well. I can see the difference in the pour and there is a difference in taste, but I'm far from a wine connoisseur so I'm going to defer to other reviewers whether it's better or not. I probably shouldn't waste money on a decanter. The main problem I have is the stem that goes into the bottle is kind of thick, and for one of the bottles I tried the inserted portion is only a little more than half an inch. I was concerned it might fall out while pouring but it never did, though I was holding on to it as well, don't need a red mess on my hands, or clothes. Or maybe I needed to push way harder than I did but I don't think I could have. The other issue is the lack of instruction. When I tried the stopper, it wasn't clear to me how much I was supposed to pump. Do I stop based on some reaction on the plunger? I was not sure if I was using it effectively. But it did seem to form a seal as it took more effect to remove than a regular stopper.
