I've been using this for a few months now and it's great. This is my first vacuum desoldering tool so I can't directly compare it to anything but it serves the purpose and does it well. It heats up quickly, has a strong vacuum, and removes solder easily. Update: May 2019 I've been using this demolition station for about a year now and am very happy with it so far. With that I probably removed about half a pound of solder. I haven't exactly kit-gloved it either. (Honestly, I was a lot heavier than I should be). There have been a couple of instances where I didn't clean the pickup tube for too long and ended up clogging the filter mat, as well as a couple of mishaps where the chute in the pickup tube got clogged with half-century-old stinky solder because I didn't get it in time with the tidied up with the included ramrods - it's really my fault. The shaft can't (and shouldn't) get hot enough to melt the solder on the end of the capture tube, but that's pretty fixable. If this happens to you, simply turn off the gun, remove the pickup tube, insert one of the cleaning rods into the wand and squeeze while heating the pickup tube with another soldering iron - after a few seconds the stuck solder should loosen and squeeze through. old solder. Replacement tips and filter pads are easy to come by. A year later, the gun still heats up quickly, the vacuum is still strong (despite the fact that I repeatedly had it clogged). Sometimes it clogs but not if you clean the pickup tube after heavy use and use the cleaning rods each time before putting the gun back in the holder.
