Thread form is not the same as a standard 2 liter plastic bottle. I already had a stainless steel version of this lid for use with plastic, but needed the plastic version so I could carbonate drinks in glass containers. The stainless steel cap can break the glass if overtightened. Any form of thread is larger than the standard 38-400 used in most bottles. I ended up using a wheel sander to sand down the threads and I used epoxy to glue the cap of a regular soda bottle into the hole. This works temporarily but will not be a permanent solution for me.
