Review on 💪 Experience Maximum Comfort and Stability with Monroe 58633 Load Adjust Shock Absorber by Talapon Blackburn

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Replaced the stock 196K shocks with these.

Provides good stability without a harsh ride. Raised the rear of my 2000 Ford Expedition a few inches with no added weight. On my car, the cup that the top end of the spring sits in interferes with the top mount of the lug frame and prevents the shock eyelet from aligning with the mount hole. I crushed the frame with a jack and hold it down with thick guardrail wire. This allowed the offending shell to drop a few inches to allow the mounting screw to pass through the top tab and bracket. With the jacks under the frame, wheels removed and floor jack under the differential and fully lowered, the shock's lower lug was inserted slightly into the axle mount with a pry bar between the lug and the mount to compress the spring an inch. A second jack could do the job. Note that the shock absorbers prevent the rear axle from dropping a long distance when the vehicle is raised. Always support the axle in one way or another when removing one or both shocks.
