Review on UGEARS 70031 Treasure Wooden Assembly Kit: No Glue Required by Saul Rivera

Happy Building

I really like making things with my hands so I made this model twice. It's not easy to build, but it's not super difficult either. I would rate the assembly difficulty with 6 points, with 10 being the highest difficulty. You will need to be careful removing some of the pre-cut pieces as they may break. Also, plan to use the small piece of sandpaper that comes with the kit. Some parts are best suited for very light sanding. The rule of thumb with this kit is not to force anything that doesn't want to connect easily. A little sanding is a good idea for tight parts, and also plan to use some glue for the staples that will be attached to the underside of the lid. You'll see why when you add the top bezels. The small "clips" used to hold the lid assembly in place tend to press on the pins protruding from the underside of the lid and cause the lid assembly to disengage. Gluing these clips to the underside of the lid with some white school glue or wood glue will stabilize the entire lid. Another tip: I didn't use wax on the gears on my second model. I found this uncomfortable to apply and didn't really affect the function of the gears. I missed it on the second model and had no problem getting the gears to work when opening and closing the box.
