In 2013 most oil is really good, synthetic or not (unless you have a turbo, you NEED synthetic). Either way, the filter is the deciding factor. All oils are contaminated. The filter extends the service life. Wix is the best. At the end of the service life, the oil escapes less coarsely. I don't live in the engine. I don't know what's going on there. All I know is that it comes out less gross. I get dirty, use a good soap that removes dirt without causing dryness and itching. The oil in my car is getting dirty, I use an oil filter that kicks my ass. Wix is great.
