I am very happy with this purchase. As a casual runner, I chose the Forerunner 45S because I need a GPS watch with buttons instead of a touchscreen and very limited smart notifications (I don't need a full smartwatch). Here are a few pros and cons that stand out. Pros: + Great for tracking runs (treadmill and outdoors), walks, and ellipticals + Buttons are easy to navigate (much better than the Forerunner 25S I upgraded from!) + Great HR zone data after each workout + Highly customizable and easy to read interface+Great for daily step tracking (and happy to challenge friends with Garmin devices!)+Impressive battery life (I usually get about a week of tracking 3 indoor sessions and 1-2 GPS sessions per week with (limited) smart notifications and step counting enabled for the entire week) Cons: I'm still having trouble calibrating the treadmill, but hopefully a few more runs will help get there. Constant distance estimation - No calculated distance for ellipticals (and no calibration option) - Very limited activity options - If you want to do more than run, walk, bike, swim, elliptical, cardio and track, check out the VivoActive series. -Body Battery (new feature for recent Forerunner series) isn't usually an accurate estimate of how much energy I have - limited smart notifications - let you just focus on messages/emails and remove them from the watch. All in all, I would definitely buy this watch again! I only wish the watch had the ability to track weightlifting and rock climbing (alongside selecting a 'different' activity).
