Best Entrelac Book: Includes technique guides, "designer " squares, attractive clothing

By far the best book on Entrelac knitting! This is the book I wished I had when I first tried Entrelac. It includes large, beautiful photos that illustrate each step in making a mezzanine, as well as detailed information on how to avoid holes at the junctions of triangles and rectangles. It also explains how to knit backwards (to increase speed), how to cast on stitches (from garter stitch and knit edges), and how to knit Entrelac in the round. It also includes written pattern instructions (no patterns, sorry) for fancy knitting. Plain knit rectangles that can be combined with plain stockinette knit rectangles to add interest to entrelac fabrics. "Designer" rectangles include lace patterns, braids, embossed patterns, geometric patterns, colored work, beadwork, felting, embroidery, and "mélange" techniques such as two-tone garters. Each square "designer" pattern is illustrated with a large color photo pattern. By my count there are over 50 patterns for different fancy rectangles. And it gets even better. There are attractive patterns for items with entrelac accents (heavily textured entrelac fabric can be overwhelming when the piece is knitted entirely in entrelac). There are also patterns for pillows, socks, purses, blankets, bonnets, scarves, shawls and long mittens. Clothing patterns include: (1) Uptown Poncho, (2) Baby Rose Garden Cardigan, (3) Edwardian Cardigan, (4) Gray Waistcoat, and (5) Garden Path Jacket. I particularly like the children's cardigan with an Entrelac border and embroidered roses, as well as dress patterns that combine stripes with Entrelac sections. All patterns are simple enough to give an overall feel without being boring. Intermediate knitters should have no trouble knitting patterns because the entrelac technique is easy to learn, although it may seem complicated. I really love this book which should be on the shelf of any serious knitter's reference book. Another good new book on entrelac knitting is Entree to Entrelac: The Definitive Guide from a Biased Knitter. (3) Edwardian cardigan, (4) Gray Waistcoat and (5) Garden Path Jacket.
