Review on πŸ”Œ Edimax EW-7822UAC AC1200 Dual-Band USB3.0 Adapter with Adjustable Foldaway Antenna - Optimal White Performance for Enhanced Connectivity by Mack Cruz

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The third time can be a spell. This one seems to work.

This is my third AC1200 network adapter. The first one was totally unreliable and I sent it back. The second had periods of uninterrupted service, but eventually would disconnect and sometimes spontaneously disconnect at least once a day. By then, Revane's return period had expired. I used a sub $15 AC 450 adapter from the same manufacturer as the AC 1200 #1. It worked great. Bought it as a last try. I've decided to stick with the AC 450 in case of failure. So far so good. Works for a few weeks. Oddly enough, it has the same chipset as the AC 1200 #2. The Realtek utility that didn't work at all with #2 also works with this one, which didn't include the utility in its software. It's amazing what's going on. As far as I know there are 2 and only 2 types of chipsets for AC 1200 wireless USB adapters. I suspect there are small differences in implementation that have big implications. The network adapter is one of those things that you should never notice after installing it. It should only supply electrons. Seems to be what this one does. I hope he keeps working. The computer I'm using it with is in a room where it's too difficult to connect a data cable. I have no choice but to use WiFi. It's faster than Ethernet 10/100, so as long as it's reliable I'm happy.
