I had a left and right foot drop due to a spinal injury so I ordered two Step Smart orthoses. In the many years since I developed the condition, I have tried the Foot Up Orthosis, the Swedish Orthosis, soft stabilizing corsets, walking shoes, Bioness and WalkAide devices, and most recently the Ottobock Walk-on Trimable Orthotics. Ottobock braces wore out after two years, but Medicare doesn't replace them for three years, so I looked for a cheaper option. I've had them for about a month now and I LOVE THEM! Big pluses are a very natural gait - I can comfortably crouch and sit sideways with applesauce in it. and my heavy right leg and my mediocre left. - Low rise makes it easy to wear under pants or over leggings. - I was very stable in them. Doesn't even swing. Minor complaints but not enough to deduct a star: - I had to buy new shoes in a larger size. I usually wear a size 7, I used to wear an 8 to wear Otto Bock insoles, now I need an 8.5 or 9. I have a removable insole on the steps in my shoes. I can only do that with Oxford lace-up shoes. A video from Insightful Products shows that the device will fit any shoe, but that's not my experience. They are uncomfortable without socks underneath. I found several Iseasoo compression socks on Amazon that are perfect for my height and weight.
