First of all, the mechanism of the knife is well made. But the quality of the blade just isn't up to scratch. I encountered the same problem that another reviewer mentioned: it took me just a couple of cuts in fresh wood to chip the edge. No knife should break that easily (and for $100+, a knife shouldn't break at all). This is a "flat" abrasive blade. The primary bevel was actually flat like Scandi (as opposed to convex or hollow), but a secondary bevel was added to the cutting edge to 'sharpen' it. Even this sharpening bevel did not prevent chipping. I bought this knife because I was looking for a real Scandinavian sharpener for bushcraft work, ie for cutting wood. I contacted the manufacturer about the chips. They offered to sharpen the blade to a more reliable angle (for a fee). I answered them and when they gave me the knife back it was really sharp. The secondary sharpening bevel appears to be at 30 degrees. But the main problem remains - this is not a Scandinavian sharpened knife and is not suitable for wood carving or other bushcraft work.
