Review on Park Tool Grease Color Size by Josel Lambert

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Should have bought earlier. Takes some getting used to, but easy to use.

Glad I bought this. I've been thinking about getting one for a few months. Tired of oily fingerprints left in unnecessary places, I dried the skin on my hands and washed off the grease. It's not magic, but it's a little game changer when you're servicing your own bikes. This makes it easier to reapply the lubricant. No gloves, no dirty can or dirty brush, just that. I ride my mountain bike a lot in dusty/dry and wet/muddy conditions. When riding, temperatures almost never get above 100 degrees Fahrenheit or below zero, so I can easily get by with just one lube. Sometimes I use Slick Honey. If I were to use many different types of high-end lubes, I'd probably consider buying some fancy syringes for them. I don't and it seems to be more durable in the long run which is why I got this one. I think it's meant to be filled with a plastic tube of lube, like the 4-ounce tube that Park Tool sells. I filled it with lube from a tub using a spoon. I suppose it would be easier to squeeze in the contents of a 4 ounce tube, but scooping it up with a spoon wasn't a problem. I wish Park Tool had made a large 16 ounce tube, not just a 16 ounce tube. Or something that fits with a caulking gun. I'm writing this because it seems like grease guns are for those who use lots of lube, want precision and less mess. If you use a lot of lube it makes sense to buy it in bulk, but pouring it into a grease gun is a bit more difficult when it's a tube. I don't think it really affects the performance or value of the tool. But a reusable hose suitable for a caulking gun would be really good and probably not difficult to make.

Pros
  • Can also be used on any tube of Park Tool lube or anti-seize
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
