I bought them because they were cheap. I really only needed the 1"bit, but you never know when you might 'need' the rest". Yes, I'm a tool keeper. I took the advice of other reviewers when using it. I drilled a 1- "" hole (with a bladed drill) in a piece of plywood and attached it to a piece of ceramic tile using strong spring clips with non-scratch rubber ends to use as a guide.I placed everything in a shallow plastic container with a bit of scrap between the bottom of the tile and the bottom of the bin (to avoid piercing the bottom) I put a 1" drill bit in the drill bit, placed the bin in the laundry tub (could have just filled it up if I had thought about it), filled the container just enough to submerge the plywood about a quarter" and continued. Using the 1" hole in the plywood as a guide, I started slowly, raising the chisel a few times to make sure fresh cold water was in the well. It cut through in no time. Very very happy. I was concerned that the 1" bit would be too big for the 1" hole I drilled with my shovel, but it worked like a charm. I have to drill another hole. The holes I had to drill were for a 1/2 inch pipe for a bathtub spout and shower head.
