First of all, if you have a standard size nut in good condition that needs to be torqued very tight, the right size socket will give you better results. . The versatile Gearwrench has become an integral part of my toolbox. All the little pins you see inside the socket are spring loaded so when you put the socket on something something pushes out some of the pins but leaves the rest in place which then act as the 'walls' of the socket, when you start it. Obviously the fit won't be 100% accurate so over tightening, like with an impact wrench, isn't a good idea, but for things that can be hand tightened it works wonders. normal buttons and sockets slide. and it also works for irregular shaped items like eyelet screw hooks. Finally, the universal socket is also a godsend when working with several nuts or other fasteners of different sizes at the same time, since you can switch from one to another without having to change heads. I've been using this outlet for a couple of weeks on everything from the oil pan on my truck to the old hooks screwed into my basement wall and everything works fine and is holding up well. As long as I don't abuse it and try to overtighten it, it should last a long time.
