Must be in the toolbox

There is always a project that comes with some kind of socket adapter. For years I guessed what socket size to use, then carefully tested each guess until I found one that worked. This outlet adapter has worked with everything I've tried. I had to assemble my son's basketball goal, which had four different sized outlets. This thing is no problem. I had to work on creating a bench for my planer. There are no problems with this thing. It also works great with a drill adapter and holds up well…

Great addition to any tool kit

I am absolutely the worst when it comes to maintaining a complete socket set. I put the outlet away when I'm done with it, and half the time, instead of going back in the suitcase, it becomes a cat toy for a couple of weeks, until my wife gets tired of the clanking noise. While this doesn't necessarily replace a whole set of heads, it's a great thing when the socket you need is going to be hidden under the sofa for a while. In terms of quality, Gearwrench is a big name for tools, this piece…

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Expensive insurance

Adapter 1/4" hexagon to 3/8" square. The head is plated in polished chrome that resists corrosion and helps keep it clean. I chose this universal socket despite having full SAE and metric socket sets. I can use this socket and adapter with my drill to drive screws. However, this head is the best tool when the head wears out, twisting hooks or working with custom shapes. If you can use a universal socket, the GearWrench 80804 3/8" Universal Socket with Adapter is a good option. ► PROS: Grips all

Great. on Power & Hand Tools

I've never had tools like this before so I didn't understand how they worked. It's just that each of the pins is spring loaded. So when you insert the fastener, it only pushes in the correct pins while holding the rest in place to provide the turning force. Now I'm not going to use this in place of replacing sockets, but the point is to be able to get to those rounded or otherwise damaged fasteners and let's just say it's another tool in your drawer. It won't get everything, but it will…

Almost universal - socket wrench

I like that I don't have to decide what head size I need, be it metric or imperial. God knows I have too many outlets in my tool box. This universal socket is much easier to use. However, there are limitations. I recently had to repair the central agitator in my washing machine. This head didn't fit because I only needed a 3/8" head and the OD of this universal sleeve was too big to fit the agitator. Also the extension adapter was too short - it would be nice if the extension was a bit longer…

These adapters are magic

These new adapters are becoming more and more common and are a must have in your ratchet set as they can loosen or tighten any size bolt or nut in a pinch. It is important to understand how this particular device is used. This should be used to loosen a nut that is in good condition and not over tight and incredibly tight. Use a very specific size nut so you don't run the risk of the nut slipping off or tearing the metal of the nut itself. However, if you just loosen or tighten bolts that are…

Works as promised, no problems with stripped nuts and bolts.

This works as I hoped it would. I've had a few slip and work well on screws or other items that a regular socket wrench might work with, but none of them have ever been able to grab stripped screws, which as promised are difficult to hold. This head holds up well and has worked with several head screw heads that I have previously had issues with. can hold! The pens return well after use. Just note that a) they can only hold objects up to 2.5cm in diameter. So if you are looking to loosen a wing

A great addition to your toolbox

First of all, if you have a standard size nut in good condition that needs to be torqued very tight, the right size socket will give you better results. . The versatile Gearwrench has become an integral part of my toolbox. All the little pins you see inside the socket are spring loaded so when you put the socket on something something pushes out some of the pins but leaves the rest in place which then act as the 'walls' of the socket, when you start it. Obviously the fit won't be 100% accurate…
