Cuts well in our test, well priced, see our test video

error loading media. I tested the QDCITT Trim Router on soft spruce with a carbide tipped bit and it did a good job but could use some improvement. This is a simple router designed for cutting things like laminate and it will work just fine. Read on for our impressions and watch the attached test video. Pros: - MAKES A GOOD CUT: Watch the video where we test the drill in soft spruce. The tiller does its job well. -- SOFT START: The router features a soft start, so it won't twitch out of your hand when you turn it on. -- COMPETITIVE PRICE: A quick overview shows that there are many milling machines in this price range. Could be better: -- NO CRUISE CONTROL: No cruise control. Only works on 30K - NO CHUCK LOCK: The chuck or picker does not have a built in lock. Thus it is a two handed operation with 2 wrenches, 11/16 and 7/17 to install or loosen the cutter. The chuck lock allows you to adjust the bit so it is not fully seated with one hand and tighten the chuck with the other hand. -- NO INSTRUCTIONS: It comes with a booklet called Instructions, but these are just warning and caution pages. -- NO DEPTH MARK: There is no gauge to set the depth. It would be very helpful if there was at least some sort of graduation on the side to show you're changing the depth to see if you've changed it to say 1/16th of an inch. You must take these measurements manually. But that's typical for basic milling machines. Conclusion: There are several milling machines in this price range. I would recommend comparing the specifications before buying, but QDCITT is a good choice for a basic milling machine. If our review was helpful to you, please vote for it using the button below.
