Review on Blackstone 1813 Tabletop Griddle Stainless by Joseph Brendemuehl

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Unusable - NOTHING I cook chopsticks - tried everything and got ZERO help from Blackstone

I bought a 22" pan on March 14th and have used it on 4 different camping trips. When I bought it, I also bought a 16 ounce bottle of Barlean Fresh Flaxseed Oil and followed the TEA seasoning directions with this product (5 "heat cycles" and "coatings" of flaxseed oil so it burns off every time and with quit smoking). . ). The first meal we cooked with this pan was the only successful meal I've made with it on this trip. Literally every piece of food I put on it sticks to the point where it has to be scraped off and it's almost inedible mush. I tried wiping it down with water and a paper towel after the food was cooked, I left it alone, I scraped it off and wiped dry with a paper towel - which resulted in the same problems. Fast forward to the second trip - I thought maybe the "preparation" of the seasoning was done wrong so I took a soft dish sponge and some soap/water, cleaned the surface very well and started the seasoning process, only 3 seasonings this time, as it looked like it would be good. coat on. The second trip, again the first meal, was the only successful one. Fast forward again to my third trip. This time, I found a well-regarded YouTuber, Blackstone, reporting that "old" grills needed a "reboot," so I followed them. Instructions. This involved cleaning the top of the pan, followed by sanding with different grit sandpaper through to using steel wool on the final finish. This process took about 2 hours and left the surface of the pan silky smooth, so I started seasoning again, this time with vegetable oil (based on this Youtuber recommendation). SAME RESULT - 1 chef and everything after that was a disaster. We've cooked bacon, sausage, burgers, steaks, ground beef, ground beef, hot dogs, pulled pork, hash browns, eggs, pancakes, veggies and more, and EVERYTHING we cook on them sticks to its empty food. We've tried cooking oil before cooking, butter, skillet/pan wipes, full cleaning before/after use without peeling and leaving fat behind, scraping, prepping and of course a few spices, fatty foods, nonfat foods and all the same ending - wasted food. Now the worst: I get NO ZERO help or response from Blackstone via Facebook or "contact us" on the website. I understand we are in a pandemic and the staff may be understaffed, but this is the PERFECT time for any customer service oriented business to improve their customer service skills. There is nothing but time to answer customer service questions, but I have not received a single response from them anywhere. I would NOT recommend this product due to the complete lack of communication Blackstone has provided.
