We're always looking for products that help keep our cars looking their best. When we looked at Griot's Bug and Smudge for removing dried bugs and their innards, we decided to give it a try. . We live in a rural area in the Midwest, a dairy farm is directly across from us, fields full of flying creatures of all kinds, ponds and lakes are on our way. We just traveled 700 miles from dawn to late night so we encountered many types of insects. We followed the directions on the bottle and left the spray on the front of the car for three to four minutes before attempting to remove the petrified debris. Dried dirt will NOT come off on its own with a hose, but any sane person knows that. Life just doesn't work that easy. But with a mesh-covered sponge and a bit of muscle power, the job went pretty smoothly. The area was then treated with a regular car wash solution that we normally use. We were very happy with the results. Our car is only a few years old and has a protective varnish on it so there were no dull spots after varnishing. I can't tell what the results would have been like on an old car that had been hand waxed. You can try it on an inconspicuous area first.
