This emergency radio worked right out of the box with no issues, no fuss. Quickly read the instructions and enjoy. Recently I had another radio, very good, but too complicated. In a real emergency, I need something that will work quickly in the dark, in inclement weather, or after a bad event. These are AM, FM, SW, NOAA. You can plug it in, use batteries, run it, or harness the sun with a solar panel. The instructions are absolutely the BEST of any electronic device I've had in years. So kids, I'm an older woman and it's not that I can't read circuit diagrams or understand jargon, I used to work in an engineering firm, but in the area of manuals I like to keep it simple. Grandma loves this radio.
