1st off. The tuner's plastic cover fell off when the radio fell on its face. The reception is very bad. The volume is very weak. The solar battery is not working on my device. I noticed that the device consumes a lot of electricity. I left the device on for 8-10 hours and the batteries were completely dead. I bought this device as a survival device and am glad I tested it before I really needed it. I will try other brands of shortwave.

This radio is a great product for the price. People complain about the crank, but there's nothing wrong with that. It is quite durable and offers sufficient charging time. I live in the city and was able to get clean channels on SW, FM and AM. I have no doubt this will work just as well for weather alerts. I bought this for a possible emergency. I tested it last week and am very satisfied. I particularly like the clockwork charger. The charge lasts a long time. This is probably the most important part. It arrived on time and in good packaging. Love all the features of this radio, I keep it in our van and bought an AC plug for the radio so I can leave it plugged in to use the weather alert feature. This works without an AC plug, but will quickly drain your batteries.
