This tool appears to be well designed and made. My problem is that even at the lowest temperature it gets too hot to burn out details like fur or feathers for the wood carving. I've tried it on basswood, walnut and pine. Instead of thin brown lines, badly burned thick black lines are obtained. I've tried touching the tip with a wet rag, using quick strokes (which gives me less control), and sharpening the tip on the knife's thin edge, but nothing really works. Corrective knowledge either doesn't work or it's just not low enough. This wood burner might work well for those who want heavy black lines but not for detailing bird or animal carvings.
