Doesn't fit right

This is probably the 5th KN air intake I've bought in the last 12 years or so. . Never had installation or performance issues. Although they were wrong about that. Saturday's heat index was 112 and the engine compartment was hot too. Everything went well until the end. Firstly, the parts that Fed Exed gave me were missing, but the problem is related to the installation of the temperature sensor. I also give Jeep 1 star because to remove the sensor, rotate it 45 degrees counter-clockwise and unscrew it. No, it didn't. I called KN about the missing parts and also spoke to their tech about the sensor and also looked it up on the U tube. Well, I twisted and twisted and pulled until it broke (a new one is $35 at Advanced Auto Parts). I installed the breather tube after receiving a replacement from KN. The main problem is that there is a hole for the sensor in the hose from the box to where it connects to the inlet. THIS WILL NOT WORK IN ANY CASE COMPARED TO THE OE PIPE. It's possible that Jeep changed the way the sensor is attached to the pipe, unknown to the SC. The missing bushing they sent me didn't fit the hole and I had to cut it 3/8" to fit the hole and then the sensor still didn't fit. The hole in the OEM pipe is completely different from the KN pipe. Guess I'll just tape it down until I think of something else and check the check engine light. Other reviews did not mention this issue. My guess is that Jeep changed the design, and if they did, KN should come to the dance and find out everything. My gladiator is 21 years old. I'll check with other Jeep owners and look at their air intakes, I'm pissed anyway. At least it works.

Pros
  • WORLD CLASS PROTECTION: Pushes the limits of engine protection by protecting against harmful contaminants
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
