I had some very cheap aluminum flat plates that I bought to see if I liked them compared to the clips. After deciding yes, I searched for a pair with a larger platform. The OneUp Composite pedal was rated #1 in a comparison I've read and was also very good value at half the price or less than other pedals that weren't rated as highly. This pedal is way better than the one it replaced. . Better clearance due to the narrower profile, more control and foot placement with a larger platform, lighter due to the composite construction and I expect they will hold up for years to come. The composite material seems to ride better on bumps where the aluminum pedals tend to bind and stop the bike. The grip of the pegs in my 5Tens is amazing, better than the pedals that have been replaced. I've noticed that I can now lift the pedal from a standing position without catching my toe on it since the pins grip the sole of the shoe so well. Buy a pair, you will love it!
