These drills cut very well, about what you would expect from a higher quality cobalt drill. Most drill much better if you drill a small pilot hole first, but that is typical of most drills. I drilled a couple of holes in the steel and they cut well and the coating barely rubbed off after drilling the holes. The cutting edges were not worn at all. Unfortunately, the manufacturer chose the most ridiculous sizes for this "set". This isn't a set at all, as a number of exercises are missing from random places in the sequence (1/8, 3/16, 17/64, and 11/32 to name a few). To be fair, the manufacturer states exactly what sizes are included, but if you don't read the entire ad carefully you could be in for a big surprise. The drill bits that come with the kit range in size from perfect diameter to plus or minus .012 (that's a lot) so don't think it's going to be a precision set as luck in the draw will determine how big the hole will be. in most cases. While these drill bits look great (I've really had no problems with the way they cut), you can't rely on any drill bit from this random set to actually drill within a few thousandths of what it's supposed to be. Check out the second picture too: your friends will know you screwed up as soon as they see the 18/64 exercise. Nothing says "I don't care" like a drill index imprinted with the SAE size "18/64".
