Practicality, value and new information

As the name suggests, I find this portable monitor convenient and inexpensive. For the rest of this review I will focus on things that you probably won't see in many other reviews as of October 2020. With a three-month-old 30,000mAh battery, I just plugged it into the monitor and played. Video through the monitor and audio through the monitor's aux output. With constant work, it lasted about 10.0-10.5 hours (at least 9.5 hours) before the battery died. Using the same battery at 100% charge but with the monitor, phone and Actiontec ScreenBeam Mini2 connected to the battery (and always on). with constantly displayed images on the phone and monitor and sound output via the secondary port of the monitor), it took 4 hours and 20 minutes for the battery to be completely discharged. (At the beginning and end of the exercise, the phone was 100% charged, and the phone's battery was fairly new - maybe a year old.) Both of the above tests were performed with the Lepow monitor's brightness and contrast set to 95%. were set, where I usually keep those two settings. I suspect all of the vendors on Revain are actually Lepow. I bought mine through Share Screen Technology, but Lepow was able to access the purchase information. As TV monitors keep getting better and cheaper, I assume portable monitors will too. At the time of purchase and a few months later while writing this review I thought this monitor was great value. That said, four months after I bought it, I sometimes saw it advertised for less than the $170 I paid. It doesn't represent bad buy value, it just maintains the expected improvement/cheap pattern over time. After contacting support they switched me to an adapter that allows you to get the output from the iPhone to the monitor. They reimbursed the cost of this adapter, which adds to its value. The adapter worked great. It is best to contact customer service first before proceeding with this to ensure it is the recommended adapter. Like some others, I had to tweak some settings. Nothing bad. Unlike some others, I understand that using only power will save my settings. When I use port C for power/audio/video, it resets to default to boot. I can understand why this is done (for example to start you up in a more power saving mode that you can tweak if you want). Customer service was responsive when I contacted them multiple times. Output to this monitor in portrait mode from Windows, I couldn't do it from Android. Not sure if the USB-C output allows this from Android. From memory a few months ago I thought I had tested it and it wasn't outputting in portrait mode. Aside from searching the web, there doesn't seem to be an easy way to do this on Android, although this setting can easily be applied on Windows (e.g. for an extra monitor). Both the advertising for this product and the advertising for other portable monitors imply that a portrait can be taken without restrictions. Unless the ad says it can auto-rotate the monitor, or doesn't clearly show an example of phone output in portrait mode, I'd be skeptical that this would be possible from a phone. Other uses for such monitors are not mentioned. from other reviewers: Viewing holiday photos on a screen larger than a phone on an airplane and looking at recipes while cooking. (Note: Maadinfo Services' Cookmate app (formerly My Cookbook app) displays recipes well in landscape mode and can still be viewed well in portrait mode. Many other recipe apps only use portrait mode.) The aforementioned Actiontec ScreenBeam Mini2 App can be used to mirror your phone on the monitor of Android phones (especially older ones which don't have USB-C connector cable for A/V output). If this is of interest, you will also need an HDMI Female to Female Adapter or an HDMI Female to Mini (Male) Adapter. It's a personal preference but unlike many others I'm glad they don't do more when it comes to the screen protector. I personally don't like them and don't use the one that comes with the monitor. For a month of use, not a single scratch on the monitor. Also, I don't intend to travel with sand or loose keys in my bag and with the monitor cover removed, so I doubt the monitor will be scratched when I travel in the future.

Pros
  • Pretty good so far. I use it for work, not the ultra HD picture I've seen, but it works for me.
Cons
  • Limited contrast setting
