Luckily I bought 3 packs of this switch. The switch is a traditional single pole switch with a transparent toggle switch with a neon tube inside that illuminates the toggle switch with an orange light when the switch is in the off position. I installed the first switch and the toggle switch didn't light up. I removed that switch and installed a second switch and that switch lit up as expected. Two days later no light! Out of frustration, I removed that switch and installed a third switch. It caught fire immediately and continued to burn for almost three weeks. Out of curiosity, I took apart the first and second switches and found that a wire on the inner neon light in each switch had a defective "cold" solder joint that allowed the wire to come loose. While these switches work great for turning the power on and off, poor quality control by the manufacturer makes the backlight toggling feature unlikely to work.
