These switches aren't as good as they used to be. Installation and operation are the same, but the "glow" function is not satisfactory. The internal neon lamp is either smaller or positioned differently than in previous units. As a result, the emitted light is almost nonexistent, defeating the purpose. I recommend avoiding them.

I have installed three of these in the basement and garage where the position of the switch is in the dark or difficult to see. All of them control fluorescent or LED lights without flickering or strange behavior. The neon light illuminates the toggle switch nicely in the dark, that's the whole point. Luckily I bought 3 packs of this switch. The switch is a traditional single pole switch with a transparent toggle switch with a neon tube inside that illuminates the toggle switch with an orange light when the switch is in the off position. I installed the first switch and the toggle switch didn't light up. I removed that switch and installed a second switch and that switch lit up as expected. Two days later no light!
