The packaging said wood, my wife said if it was Alicia wood it would have said so. I am not that familiar with Alicia wood so I am not positive. It is a bit shinny, so I am unsure what finish is on the spoons. I am used to wooden spoons not having any finish. The packaging says to treat the wood with mineral oil to keep it from drying out. I usually use Olive oil, I wonder if that creates a problem. I wish the spoons wouldld have been a bit deep. Time will tell if this is a good buy.
