My Frigidaire gas range started behaving strangely when using the oven, preheating seemed to take forever. A couple of times I smelled gas and the stove only got a little warm. Normally I could turn off the oven and try restarting it and it would light up. I could clearly see the igniter glowing through the vents and thought it was a problem with the gas valve. After more research, my problem was consistent with a faulty igniter. The stove only warmed up from the heat of the igniter and the smell of gas because the valve barely opened, not even enough to ignite. sufficient power. After pulling out the lower drawer, you can easily measure the current drawn with the clamp meter, as the two white wires are easily accessible. My old igniter had a peak current of about 2.8 amps. I replaced the factory igniter with this part which is an exact replacement and measured the current draw which quickly rose to about 3.3A and in no time gas appeared and the burner ignited. This was quickly rectified and the oven worked like new again. The only tools needed are a 1/4 inch screwdriver to remove the burner heat shield and possibly a flathead screwdriver to remove the bottom stove pan.
